The 2022 HealthQuake Summit took place in the elegant Colony Club in Detroit on May 23, 2022.

For the 2022 Summit we increased the number of topical speakers to six and covered all the major branches of postmodern medicine (genetic, regenerative, bionic, and digital) instead of just one or two as in previous Summits. The objective was to put the tremors to be described by our speakers into the broad context of the whole healthcare sector and related sectors of the economy and to assess the likely impacts. With the additional speakers, an already exciting day was supercharged in intensity and, we think, in understanding the future of healthcare. See the Prospectus and Provisional Report (links above) for more information.

The 2019 Summit focused on seismic tremors in the making in two branches of postmodern medicine: Bionic medicine and digital medicine. Tremors are soon to be felt in the treatment of genito-urinary cancer and disease, and are already being felt from the application of advanced analytics to big health data and from a new integrated approach to kidney cancer and disease called onco-nephrology. Our distinguished speakers included Dr. Shuvo Roy, co-inventor of the world’s most advanced implantable bioartificial kidney, Dr. Atul Butte, Chief Data Scientist for the University of California Health System, and Dr. Mona Doshi from the University of Michigan.

At the inaugural 2017 HealthQuake Summit, distinguished French surgeon Dr. Jean-Michel Dubernard spoke about his pioneering work in pancreas, hand/arm, and face transplantation, and world-renowned regenerative medicine pioneer Dr. Tony Atala described his work in regenerating organs and tissues. Summit delegates then discussed the long-term professional, social, political, economic, and other implications of the accelerating innovation of which the work of Dr. Dubernard and Dr. Atala was exemplary. Former US Surgeon General Antonia Novello provided an overarching perspective that drew upon their presentations.
